Good work!
Nice little Jimi(Third Stone) @16:54
You are an excellent teacher. Thx for all the good ideas.
I burnt out 2 EL84 tubes in my new Mesa Mark V 35 at a bar we were rehearsing at for several months. Got with Mesa and they said your voltage is too high. I checked, it was a 128 - 129 Volts!! Got the Brown Box and have not had a glitch since then. Even other guest guitarists plug their tube amps in with me when they have asked me about it at gigs.
This place is Definitely on my bucket list!!!! That’s so awesome 🤩 that you got play Duane’s guitar 🎸!!!!
Great playing, the way to mix slide and fingers is really good, do you plug the lion in the HZ input of your interface ?
lol that’s not your screw up. They should’ve told you. Also you still sounded great
It took me a long time to find you because i was searching "beginner slide"
Great advice !!
Good lord the tone
Saw this same color NF53 is a local guitar store, looks so good in person!!!
this is so arbitrary. you should just play instead of talking. slide is a personal thing.
Holy Shmokes! 😳
Your smoke!!!
It still sounds good!
Hello Dylan, I watched this clip. You have nothing for which to apologise. It was the result of a lack of communication - not instigated by yourself. But hey, stuff happens. Don't be an apologist for others. On another note, I love your clips. They're informative, accessible and useful. I've been a committed ABB fan since the very early '70s. Was fortunate to see them perform in Boston December 2011. Truth is, I didn't miss Duane as Derek brings integrity and honesty to his part in the ABB mix. PS do you contract out your skills for other peoples' material & sessions? Best Regards Evangelos (Australia)
First: congrats, sir!! Well deserved! Second: Dammit, dude!!! I just bought my first Rock Slide a month before you released this! Guess if I'm gonna use slide more I might need two and get yours. Hated the glass slide I had for 20 yrs, never used, and gave it away. But thanks to you I'm looking at a short slide solo section in a song for the first time in my band's 15 yrs at a bigger festival this year.
Duane Allman Reincarnated! I could listen to this guy play all day!!!
I taught myself this in very much the way you’re explaining it and I’d say it’s extremely important because without knowing it this developed my Ear. My guitar teacher held the same thing would happen eventually just by learning what you liked and playing songs. I had to learn it this way .
Im Standing at the crossroads🎸What a sound.
I think I saw another video from you on muting the strings while your playing slide 👍great stuff🎸
thank you so much you've just showed me magic can't thank you enough I reckon if I had a few lessons on slide with I be away with the fairy incredible sounds. Thanks for the shapes im gonna stick with this it sounds too good🙏your an amazing slide player🎸
Honestly I can barely tell you’re in the wrong key. You sound great man.
Just keep on going. Pretend it never happened and do what you do. 👍
Man... we all do that... and exactly... don't beat yourself... in any aspect in life... mistakes are part of experiencing life... we learn from it... you are an amazing player, very inspirational... and yeah we need to take what we do seriously... but indeed... its only music... like you said not life or dead... Keep on Rocking... and inspiring us all!!! 😉😉😃😃👍👍🎸🎸🤟😎😎🙏🙏
If you do it twice it becomes jazz... lol. I just laugh it off as best I can. Most people won't even notice.
Either way.. sounded cool.
You're a really solid player. We all make mistakes and you're right when monitors go out or stage lighting stinks, you can lose a little sense of where you are in the song. There is a live recording of a well known pro guitarist with his band where it sounds like he starts out his solo a half step off from the key and realizes it about 4 measures in before correcting himself. It happens
Sounded good to me pal, but I like jazz. You suddenly became a fusion guitarist. Mike Stern better watch out, there’s a new kid in town. Ha. Anyway, only really the F and Eb of the C minor pentatonic scale would clash with the E and F# of the D9 making it sound a bit spicy. Sounded good to me👍😎
Really appreciate your willingness to shine a light on your own mistakes. You were in a tough situation, but I'm grateful we can all learn from it. I think your advice was spot on. Thank you!
To us in the crowd (or a dude on UA-cam), I wouldn’t even have noticed. Even with you pointing it out, I just hear you shredding the sh!t out of it. 🤘🏻
Dylan ... it's called 'artistic licence' ...... how often does a jazz solo sound out of square .. OFTEN .. improvised blues ..... had the same experience myself when the band is loud and am thrown in the deep end with zero info
If Lars Ulrich still has the gall to go on stage then we're all ok😂
what are you using to get your sound?
Don't lose your composure and carry on..... that's what i always do... People often don't even notice
Seems to me that the 50's wiring was a learning curve for Gibson as the modern wiring seems to be more workable so they changed to that. I have put treble bleed on my (modern wired) Tele with a resistor and it works great.
This is amazing
You are my new guitar hero ❤
My friend - as much as I would like to hear how "awful" it sounded to play a C-blues scale over D-mixo. The truth is the video just doesn't let me hear enough of the band to hear the horrible dissonance. All I hear is you playing trad blues licks in C and they sound fine - I can't hear the band in D. I use decent semi-pro studio monitors as my primary listening speakers for UA-cam videos. I wish I could share in your pain, but like you, I just don't hear enough of the band to know what went wrong. I think furthermore, since the previous guy soloed in C, it is impossible to hear that the band had changed keys. I just sounds like players trading solos. Also- the previous player dropped out quickly as soon as he realized you didn't hear the key change - so he "saved your hide" although it was not a big deal.
You didn't hear the key change? Neither did I. The whole show was too loud. Not your fault & your humility shows that you care. All the best to you.
Dude that wasn't bad. If you didn't mention it I'd have thought you were messing with some interesting tension. That's actually how I heard it.
First time viewer. It's very cool that you shared this experience. You're an amazing guitar player and a righteous dude on top of that.
Go on to the next note…
C major is D Dorian.
It sounded like Zappa. Just stretchin' outside the box. Better than playing what is tried and true and BORING.
There's a video out when Eric Clapton goes for a solo and jumps on the wrong key and everybody realizes it. 👍
A least it was a whole tone difference. If it had been a half tone, well… I’ve been there and it’s not pretty 😅
Flawless !!!
Nobody in the crowd noticed anything wrong. Everybody makes mistakes no matter what level of musician they are. It's the ability to walk away from it that matters. No big deal.
